Additional Improvements

To replace the incandescent compass lights I mounted 3 red LEDs and a dropping resistor on a very small piece of perf board and then coated the whole thing with a bit of epoxy. They just fit in the housing and make a better light than the original white bulbs.

To better protect the engines I built a box from Starboard and mounted two cutoff switches to cut off the positive and negative battery cables from the engines. The switches each have two fairly large gaps and I may add some additional transient absorbers. I will let you know if it works the next time I get struck.

I like that there is just a few wood accent pieces and they are nice looking wood but the factory finish started to fail in the Florida sun after 6 months. I made covers for them and stripped the old finish and replaced it with Sikkens Natural which really brings out the beauty of the wood and after 12 months they look brand new.

The original holders for the wind scoops did not stand up and the stainless steel hardware caused some corrosion. I found a supplier for nylon screws and made the new holders out of a scrap of Starboard.
